The new Hinckley DS42 daysailer will be offered with an electric propulsion system, according to the builder. The battery-powered Solomon Technologies ST37 electric motor will give prospective buyers an option for quiet auxiliary power.
The high-torque low-rpm ST37 can replace diesel or gasoline engines in sailboats, displacement powerboats, workboats and water taxis from 20 feet to more than 55 feet, according to Solomon. The electric motor draws power from a bank of 12 12-volt batteries. www.solomontechnologies.com; www.hinckleyyachts.com
