Historic riverboat gets a second chance

A Cincinnati-based investor group that includes the former captain of the Delta Queen riverboat has launched a new effort to buy the 84-year-old vessel and return it to full operation on the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.

Currently, the wooden-hulled National Historic Landmark is serving as a floating hotel on the Tennessee River in Chattanooga.

The asking price for the historic 285-foot steamboat and her 57-foot-high smokestacks and calliope is $4.75 million.
