Seven manufacturers were honored with Innovation Awards Thursday at the Miami International Boat Show.
The Innovation Awards are presented by the National Marine Manufacturers Association, and winners are selected by a panel of judges representing Boating Writers International. The awards recognize innovative products that benefit the marine industry and its consumers.
“This year a total of 50 products were entered,” Zuzana Prochazka, Innovation Awards co-chair and member of the BWI board of directors, says in a news release. “There were some exceptional entries this year, and it made the judging process a challenge.”
The winner in the Consumer Electronics and Software category was Johnson Outdoors’ CannonLink fishing system controller. The One Touch Winch Handle from Lewmar was the winner in the Consumer-installed Non-Electronic Hardware category. Speedtech’s Windmate 350 wind and weather monitor took the Consumer Personal Gear award. The auto-leveling No Profile Boat Lift by Way Marine Design took the Daysailing Equipment award. The winner in the Inboard and Outboard Cruisers category was Glacier Bay’s 30-foot IsleRunner. The judges chose Chris-Craft’s Catalina 23 as winner in the Runabouts and Fishing Craft category. In the Sailboat category, Island Packet took the honor with its SP Cruiser motorsailer.
