Judge says America's Cup Race can't be held in UAE

The America's Cup sailing race to be held in February can't be staged in the United Arab Emirates because the competition's rules dictate that it take place that month in the Southern Hemisphere, a New York judge said.

Justice Shirley Werner Kornreich of New York State Supreme Court said race regulations require it be held in the Southern Hemisphere if it takes place between November and May. The UAE is in the Northern Hemisphere.

The Alinghi team, the 2007 Cup winner, and Larry Ellison's BMW-Oracle team have been in a legal fight for more than two years about the Cup's rules.
