Last 44-foot rescue boat is decommissioned

With military honors that outshine those given to most human shipmates retiring from the service, the Coast Guard decommissioned the last of what was once a mighty fleet of 44-foot motor lifeboats. The CG44301 was the first production model of that boat type, and it began its service at Station Chatham (Mass.), where it was decommissioned.
