Marlow Explorer 53C

Marlow Explorer 53C

The Marlow 53C joins several larger yachts — from 57 to 78 feet — in the Marlow Explorer line. The new yacht — a response to demand for a smaller Explorer — is capable of extended ocean voyages and shares the styling of the larger models, according to the company.

The 53C measures 62 feet, 2 inches LOA — centerline length of 54 feet, 3 inches — and has a sizable beam at 18 feet, 2 inches. In fact, the company says the 53’s beam is only about 2 inches narrower than that of its yachts in the 57- to 65-foot range.

The new Explorer has a three-stateroom, two-head layout. One of the staterooms has double doors that open to the companionway, Marlow says, to provide a more spacious, open look and feel.

The engine room, described as spacious and well-lit, has four high-volume cooling fans, dual lighting systems, and a high level of finish, according to the company. Marlow’s proprietary sea chest system filters and distributes seawater for on-board systems. The sea chest and the boat’s common drain system eliminate the need for dozens of through-hulls, according to the company.

The 59,000-pound yacht is built of foam and fiberglass sandwich construction using resin-infused vacuum-assisted transfer. Marlow’s RIVAT construction method infuses the fabrics with exactly the right amount of resin, according to the company.

The 53C also has an approximately 14-mm thick curved glass windshield that is both laminated and tempered, according to Marlow.

Marlow Explorer Yachts will unveil the new boat at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in late October. Base price with standard dual Lugger 410-hp diesels is $975,000.
