Law gap means open season for dumping old boats

While several American states have floated new initiatives to tackle derelict or abandoned vessels, there's little to stop boat owners in British Columbia from using the province's waterways as a dumping ground for derelict vessels.

The problem remains sunk by bureaucracy — or a lack thereof. If they're not deemed an obstruction, there's no mandate to act. In other words, it's open season for dumping.
