‘Leap of faith’ stops out-of-control boat

A good Samaritan boat on an Oklahoma lake was called a hero after he leapt from his boat onto an out of control powerboat with an unconscious driver and stopped the boat before it sped up onto a crowded beach.

Witnesses say the boat was “doing donuts” around Edmond Lake. There were several other boaters circling, trying desperately to communicate with the man.

Ernie and Paige Jenkins positioned their new pontoon boat beside the smaller vessel for a closer look.

“I see him heading toward the beach with kids,” Ernie Paige told KFOR-TV News. “I said, Paige, you need to drive. I’m jumping in this boat. We are stopping this boat.”
