Legendary Cape Cod rescue boat featured on CBS This Morning

An historic lifeboat used during a daring Coast Guard rescue in 1952 off Cape Cod was featured on a "CBS This Morning" television segment on Saturday.

The segment featured interviews with Eastham historian Richard Ryder, on board the restored CG-36500 lifeboat, on a trip out of Rock Harbor. Orleans Historical Society board chairman Mark Carron, among others, were interviewed.

The segment, about six minutes long, showed views from the top of the lighthouse in Chatham and scenes from the upcoming Disney movie “The Finest Hours” about the rescue. The movie is scheduled for release in January.
