Because of a possible valve defect, anyone who bought a BFA Marine Pacific, Atlantic or Baltic life raft, or an XM/BFA Offshore life raft between August 1995 and June 2000 should have the unit serviced before further use. The manufacturer of the rafts has identified a valve problem that could lead to a malfunction.
If the life rafts have been serviced after March 1, 2003, by an approved service station, the valves reportedly will have been checked and no replacement is required. If they haven’t been serviced, an approved BFA service station will check the valves and, if necessary, replace them free of charge.
