Log canoe racing marks 150 years

Log canoe racing dates back to the 19th century when Chesapeake Bay watermen began racing their oystering boats for enjoyment. The sport has weathered a few bad spells since then, but it still has its adherents.

One hundred and fifty years later, a celebration of log canoe racing will be held Sept. 19 at the Miles River Yacht Club in St. Michaels, Md.
