Man killed in boat crash was aspiring to become a captain

The search continues for the body of a woman thrown from a boat in Destin, Fla., when it crashed into a local jetty last Friday.

The 22-year-old woman was one of 12 people on a boat that slammed into the rocks in the early morning hours.

A second fatality, Avery Hatchett, 22, of Destin, was confirmed to have been killed in the incident. His former boss spoke to the local Channel 3 News about the shock and sadness in the wake of the crash.

For two years, Avery Hatchett worked at SEA Chase Watersports on Destin Harbor. Every morning he'd load some people up on one of their rental pontoons, give them a safety checkout on the boat, and send them out. SEA Chase owner Sheri Andrews says Avery loved the water. It was his dream to make his life on it.

Andrews says Avery's huge, contagious grin perfectly reflected his personality. She said, "Avery was a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. My customers loved him, my staff loved him, I adored him."
