Marine rescue becomes a recovery operation

A rescue attempt for two missing fishermen was called off in New Brunswick, Canada, hours after the body of one was found.

The boat, operating out of Tabusintac, issued a distress call at around 5:30 a.m. local time Saturday. Three crew were on board when it capsized.

The body of a 23-year-old man was later found on a beach near where the boat got into trouble. Rescue and teams as well as local fishermen and residents, were combing the shoreline for any sign of the two crew members Saturday evening.

“They were standing on the hull of the boat trying to get rescued,” Mike Bonin of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, told CBC News.
