Marquis Yachts of Green Bay, Wis., received the 2008 Arabian Gulf Yachting Award during a recent gala event in United Arab Emirates.
The award recognizes the best new yacht design introduced in the Middle East during the prior 12 months. In this case, the award honored the Marquis 500 Sports Coupe. Introduced last February, the yacht was designed by Nuvolari-Lenard Naval Design in Italy and constructed at the boatbuilder’s Wisconsin plant.
“The Arabian Gulf Yachting Award is the third design trophy that we have received in 2008,” said Robert VanGrunsven, president of Marquis Yachts, in a statement.
Other awards include the World Yacht Trophy presented at the Festival International de la Plaisance in Cannes, France, and MotorBoating magazine’s Best Yacht of the Year trophy presented during the 2008 Miami International Boat Show.
