U.S. marshals seized the Inace booth at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in response to the company ignoring a $600,000 federal judgment.

The owner of a 111-foot Catalonian Spirit built by the Brazilian yacht company won the judgment on March 11, the South Florida Business Journal reported.

The company has since refused to pay, and attorneys for the owner, with the help of U.S. marshals, sought to execute the judgment at the boat show, said Clay Naughton, an attorney with Moore & Co., who represents the owner.

On Oct. 28, two marshals and some movers seized the Inace booth, collecting computers, furniture, marketing materials and light bulbs, among other belongings.

“The idea behind it is that they are not judgment-proof, sitting in Brazil,” Naughton told the newspaper.

Inace representatives were sharing the booth with the company’s U.S. distributor, All Ocean Yachts. None of the distributor's belongings were seized.
