Maverick Boat Co. unveils new fishing boats

Nine journalists gathered Monday night at the Hutchinson Island Marriott Beach Resort & Marina in Stuart, Fla., for the Maverick Boat Co. Media Event, where the manufacturer will be introducing four fishing boats.

"We're introducing new boat models, but at the same time we've invited several of our business partners — some of the major leaders in the various segments of the market, such as Raymarine, Yamaha and Shimano," said Charlie Johnson, director of marketing at Maverick, which builds Pathfinder, Maverick, Hewes and Cobia boats in Fort Pierce, Fla. "These companies will have product to show off, so the writers really get access to a lot in one stop."

Maverick's group of new boats consists of two Pathfinders (the 2200 Tournament Edition with a single Yamaha F250 and the 2600 HPS Bay Crusher with a single F300); the Maverick 17 HPX-V with an F90; and the F150-powered Cobia 201 CC. These boats and five others from 18 to 29 feet were in the water ready for action this morning.
