Metro boat show still holding its own

Even with a shorter format than last year, an interruption from bad weather and some regional competition, the third annual New York/New Jersey International Boat Show posted solid attendance figures, according to organizers.

The show took place Sept. 16 to 19 at Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City, N.J.

Initial attendance figures are estimated to be comparable to last year’s five-day event. The four-day event was essentially cut to three by an all-day rain on Saturday.

Almost 300 boats were on display, ranging in size from 15 feet to 112 feet. The reconfigured in-water portion allowed for better traffic flow on the docks while maintaining the show’s unique feature of allowing attendees to run sea trials. The 40,000-square-foot clear span exhibitor tent housed a selection of boats and marine accessory and parts vendors.
