A sailor missing since a boat capsized nearly a week ago off Hawaii's Big Island was trying to spread Christianity, according to local news reports.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported that Aaron Bremner, 24, is part of a group called Youth With a Mission that was preparing for a two-year voyage to Pacific islands to provide medical and dental work, water purification and Bibles.
Bremner was among the crew of five who took a 75-foot sailboat off the Kona Coast on Friday because dangerous weather threatened the vessel. On Saturday morning, waves flipped the boat two or three times, according to survivors.
Four others who were on board were rescued after they were spotted floating on a life-raft, but Bremner wasn't with them, according to a report by KITV News.
