Visitors planning to attend the Newport International Boat Show should expect to see record numbers of megayachts and sailboats this year, according to show organizers.
The four-day event, scheduled for Sept. 16 to 19, will have 800 exhibitors and nearly 600 boats in the water ranging from less than 16 feet to more than 100 feet, according to a show press release.
The show has expanded to include Bowen’s Wharf, Newport’s waterfront shopping district, as part of its in-water and on-land display area along America’s Cup Avenue. Down East boats will feature in the in-water exhibit at Bowen’s Wharf.
New boats on hand will include a 38-footer from rigid-hull inflatable boatbuilder Protector Boats, the Sabreline 38 Hardtop Express, Chris-Craft’s Roamer 40, the Talaria 55 from Hinckley Yachts, a Morris Yachts M36 single-handed daysailer, the Saga 409 passagemaking sailboat and Lagoon’s 440, a sailing catamaran.
The TrawlerPort passagemaker display will have a new Grand Banks yacht and a new 45-footer from Rhode Island builder Symbol Yachts. www.newportboatshow.com
