Mysterious sailboat washes ashore

The captain and presumed owner of a 25-foot sailboat that washed ashore on April 22 at the Mukilteo Boat Launch in Washington is nowhere to be found and the city says it will soon impound the vessel.

Authorities with the city's Public Works Department believe the boat was abandoned on the evening of April 20 after someone "purposely" tied the sailboat up to a mooring at the boat launch.

It's believed the boat broke free of its mooring lines in high winds and was beached the following morning, where it's remained ever since.

An incident three days before the boat appeared in Mukilteo may have played a role in the mystery of the missing boat owner.
