Viking 52 Open
Viking Yachts combined the hull form and cockpit of its 52 Convertible with a new topside layout and interior arrangement to create a big express fisherman. The 52 Open is the second offering in the venerable New Jersey builder’s express lineup, joining the 45 Open, Viking’s smallest boat.
The cockpit of the 52 Open measures 148 square feet and includes the raised mezzanine seating area found on many large convertible sportfishermen. The mezzanine has aft-facing seats with storage beneath, a bait freezer, tackle drawers and engine room access. The self-bailing cockpit has a non-skid fiberglass sole, transom door, fresh and raw water washdowns, flush rod holders, rounded coaming, in-deck storage boxes and a recessed, insulated fishbox.
The bridge deck has three Murray pedestal seats, with the helm station on the centerline. There is an L-shaped settee to port, and a starboard cabinet with refrigerator, icemaker and storage.
Below, the boat has a two-stateroom, two-head layout. The forward master has a queen-size island berth, maple-lined hanging locker, flat-screen television, and private head compartment with stall shower. The guest stateroom is to port and has upper and lower berths, as well as access to the second head.
The saloon, located amidships, has an L-shaped lounge to port with a table and rod storage beneath, as well as an entertainment system with a flat-screen television. The galley, located to starboard, is equipped with an electric stove, microwave/convection oven, under-counter refrigeration and sink with garbage disposal. The saloon and galley have teak cabinetry, and all cabin areas are air conditioned.

Sterling Atlantic 43 Flybridge
Brazilian boatbuilder Sterling Yachts has launched a flybridge version of its Atlantic 43. The flybridge — placed slightly abaft amidships, atop the saloon — has a helm station with full instrumentation and a chart locker, a mahogany-trimmed windshield, a pair of adjustable stainless steel chairs seating two people each, stainless steel rails and a stainless steel ladder with teak steps from the aft deck.
The 43 was designed by American Greg Siewert and is built in Itajaí, Brazil, by Sterling. Her broken sheer and classic motoryacht looks belie an all-composite hull that, along with the deck and stringers, is cored with Core-Cell foam. The raised pilothouse has a second helm station, leather settee and mahogany table. The saloon — typically laid out with cabinetry, a desk, coffee table and seating — is located abaft the pilothouse and down a couple of steps. A sliding door provides access to the aft deck from the saloon.
Forward of the pilothouse is the galley-down, head compartment and master stateroom. The galley comes equipped with a Brazilian granite countertop, double sink, two-burner electric stove and refrigerator/freezer. The stateroom has an island berth with storage beneath and a pair of cedar-lined hanging lockers. A two-stateroom version also is available.
