The southeastern Connecticut town of Essex, six miles up the Connecticut River, is hosting a new boat show this weekend.
The first Spring Boat Show started at 10 a.m. Friday under sunny blue skies and a light breeze, but steady traffic was present at the docks by lunchtime at Brewer Dauntless Marina and the Essex Corinthian Yacht Club.
The show is scheduled to run through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. There is no charge to attend. Burgers, dogs and chili are sold at an on-site grill.
More than 50 boats - new and used brokerage boats from 25 to 72 feet, with a definite slant toward Down East designs, with tugs, sportfishermen as well as a strong sail presence - are on display both in water and on land.
