The 2004 edition includes boatyards, equipment companies and cruising information
Anyone interested in a Nova Scotia boat might want to pick up a copy of the Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association directory, Nova Scotia Boats 2004. The third edition includes pictures, profiles and contact information for NSBA member boatyards; a listing of marine equipment and supplies companies; Canada/United States trade information; and maps, travel routes, and tourism and cruising information.
NSBA was founded in 1998 by a small group of Nova Scotia boatbuilders to increase export sales of the province’s boats. A professional staff coordinates the activities of the members (34 boatyards and 45 support industry companies). NSBA also publishes a quarterly newsletter, Nova Scotia Boatbuilder.
In addition to pooling the marketing and sales resources of the region’s boatbuilders and suppliers, NSBA has developed standards for boat construction and a workshop series for builders.
NSBA members build a variety of boats, both power and sail, which observe the association’s tagline, “Nova Scotia boats — built for the sea!” Buyers can find everything from workboats to high-end yachts through the NSBA.
