Blue Sea Systems’ new DC Parallel Circuit Battery Switch Panels help prevent accidental battery discharge on outboard-powered boats. The panels isolate the house batteries from the starting batteries, and allow either or both batteries to be used for starting, according to the company. Blue Sea says the panels also enable a failed battery to be isolated from the electrical system, so the remaining battery can operate the house and starting loads. The JBL MS920 is a new 6-by-9-inch coaxial speaker introduced by Prospec Electronics in conjunction with Harmon International. The water- and UV-resistant speaker from the JBL Marine line can handle up to 300 watts and has a frequency response of 50 Hz to 21 Hz. Imtra Marine Lighting has introduced fiber optic underwater lighting. Imtra’s Airmar through-hull fittings use the ends of fiber-optic cables, which means bulb replacement doesn’t require haulout because the light source isn’t in the fitting, according to the company. The 12-volt DC system retails for $955.50 as a complete kit, including an illuminator box with a 50-watt bulb, a two-leg fiber optic cable set, two through-hulls, and two emergency plugs with pull rings. A typical 120-volt AC system retails for $2,389 and includes an illuminator box with a 150-watt lamp, a three-leg fiber optic cable set, three through-hulls with non-return valves, and three emergency plugs with pull rings.
