The LRB 3000 is a new laser range finder from Newcon Optik,

with seven-times magnification, a 40-mm objective lens, and an “eye-safe” 905-nm laser. It has a digital compass and built-


in speed detector, and it recalls the last 10 readings taken. The LRB 3000, which refers to its measuring range of 20 to 3,000 meters, has a rubberized covering, is waterproof, weighs roughly 2.14 pounds, and is powered by a standard 9-volt battery. AMSOIL has introduced a new synthetic marine gear lube it says is formulated to protect against wear even when contaminated with as much as 10 percent water. The gear lube is recommended both


for fresh- and saltwater applications that require 75W-90 or 80W-90 lube that meets API GL-4 or GL-5 performance standards.

Clamcleats Limited has introduced two new accessories for its rope cleats. The Keeper is designed to overcome the problem of accidentally cleating lines, and improve performance by holding

lightly loaded lines in the jaws of the cleat. A line that is released or cleated will click into or out of place when a Keeper is used. The Keeper also allows cleats to be used on control lines that are


adjusted frequently, according to the company, as the Keeper will stop the line from recleating when released. Prices are $2.95 and $6.95, depending on style.
