Float-Tech is a new lightweight jacket with an inflatable PFD liner that zips into place. The jacket is made of waterproof, breathable nylon and has expandable pleats for comfort when the PFD is inflated. Its sleeves zip off so it can be worn as a vest,and the removable PFD liner can be used alone.


The PFD self-inflates upon immersion, or can be manually inflated by pulling the ripcord or by breathing into an inflation tube. Float-Tech recently received Coast Guard approval as a Type V PFD with Type III performance.

Maptech, known for its ChartKits and navigation software, now offers a training guide series.

 “Chart Symbols and On-the-Water Guide” explains common chart symbols, aids to navigation and how to select a safe route, as well as touching on obstacles, tides, using GPS and the Rules of the Road. “How to Use GPS with Charts” provides a step-by-step guide to using a GPS receiver and a chart together, including finding your position on and transferring waypoints to the chart.

Dual Electronics has introduced a new marine audio system that can be connected to portable digital media players.


 The MXCP55 is an AM/FM/ CD/weather band receiver that comes with a pair of corrosion-resistant Dual marine speakers for a suggested retail price of $299.99.

It has conformal-coated circuit boards and a UV-resistant faceplate, according to the company, and the 6.5-inch speakers are rated at 20 watts RMS. The system accepts portable digital players with the addition of the iPlug adapter cable, $34.99, which is designed for marine applications and reportedly connects any media player with a 3.5 mm headphone output to head units equipped with RCA inputs. Dinghy Doc is a swim platform-mounted docking system designed to aid in boarding and disembarking from dinghies. Two brackets with adjustable 36-inch stainless steel poles are mounted on the swim platform.

 The poles serve as tie-off points, bow and stern, for the dinghy; each pole has an eyelet at the top for use with snap hooks. Two models of Dinghy Doc are available: one for soft-sided dinghies, and one for hard-sided dinghies and PWC.

The RailLight is a stainless steel solar-powered LED lamp that clamps to railings from 3/4 to 1-1/4 inches in diameter.


 The nylon clamp allows the light to be adjusted to any height or angle, according to the manufacturer, and a transom clamp is included for attachment to dinghies, tenders and other small boats, as well as cockpit coamings and stanchions. A pair of white LEDs, housed in a double Fresnel lens system sealed with epoxy to shed water, provides light for up to eight hours on a full charge, according to the manufacturer.
