MTX Audio has introduced the Thunder Marine line of speakers and subwoofers. The speakers have removable impact-resistant grills, gold-plated terminals and stainless steel hardware, single 4-ohm voice coils, weather-resistant polypropylene cones, insulated tinsel leads, and UV-grade ABS plastic to protect electrical components from moisture and salt spray. The MOBi-lert 720i man overboard alarm system from Australian manufacturer Mobilarm is designed for boats up to 45 feet and can protect up to six people. Each person wears a waterproof personal transmitter — two transmitters come with the base system — that communicates with a high-output audible and visual alarm via a central antenna when a person falls overboard. Each transmitter lasts up to four days on a single charge, according to Mobilarm. The system also provides an MOB waypoint to an NMEA 0183-compatible GPS or chart plotter. Pricing starts at $799. The Infrared Thermometer SP from NorCross Marine Products provides instant readings, whether taking water temperature while running the boat at full speed or taking a cylinder head temperature reading. The SP reads off any surface within a half-second, according to NorCross, and uses a laser pointer to aim at the desired target. Readings are shown in Fahrenheit or Celsius on an LCD, and the 8-oz hand-held unit measures temperatures from 0 to 400 F. The 6BY260 from Yanmar Marine USA is part of a new line of 4- and 6-cylinder common-rail diesels developed with automaker BMW. The 260-hp 6-cylinder engine, which has an electronic control unit to manage the common-rail fuel injection system, weighs 683 pounds and is available as an inboard or with a MerCruiser sterndrive. It meets Environmental Protection Agency Tier 2 emissions regulations and communicates engine data using NMEA 2000 CANbus network protocol. Purosol Sport/Marine is an enzyme-based spray specifically formulated for cleaning marine electronics and other outdoor optical instruments. It is designed to break down and remove organic salts and dirt, according to manufacturer Origin Laboratories, in addition to preventing buildup.
