Tiara Yachts has added a new 36-footer to its Open series of express cruisers from 29 feet to 42 feet.
The 3600 Open is designed for cruising and fishing, the company says, and replaces the 3500. The new boat sleeps five, carries 400 gallons of fuel in a composite tank, has 72 square feet of cockpit space, and includes a private master stateroom with a queensize berth.
“They’re adept at cruising, and as adept at cruising as they are at fishing,” Tiara director of marketing Dave Walsh says of the new boats. “The model is adaptable to [the customer’s] interests.”
Tiara offers several options to transform the 3600’s self-draining cockpit into a fishing hub. A bait prep center is available in place of the port side aftfacing seat, and a 36-gallon transom bait well can be installed in lieu of the standard fold-down aft bench. A macerator can be installed in one of the cockpit’s two flush-deck storage boxes, and rod holders and port and starboard rod storage lockers also are available.
The 3600 has a cockpit shower with hot and cold water, and both raw- and freshwater washdowns. The cockpit and decks come standard with diamond- pattern nonskid.
The bridge deck contains a helm seat to starboard and an L-shaped lounge to port. Abaft the helm seat is a wet bar, storage area and another aftfacing seat. An optional icemaker or refrigerator can take the place of the center storage area.
A hardtop and a radar arch are optional, as is a bridge deck table to complement the lounge seat. An AM/FM/CD stereo system is standard.
Below deck, the 3600 is finished in teak, with a solid teak cabin sole. A teak and holly sole is optional. A Ushaped dinette to starboard converts to a single upper/lower berth or a double lower berth. The saloon comes standard with a 15-inch LCD television, DVD/CD player and air conditioning.
There is storage overhead, below the dinette, and below the fiberglass companionway steps.
To port is an all-fiberglass head and shower, forward of which is the galley.
The head and galley both have Corian countertops. The galley is equipped with a stainless steel sink, two-burner electric stove, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator and freezer, and teak cabinets.
The master stateroom is forward and has a pedestal berth with storage underneath. It also has a two-compartment port locker, cedar-lined starboard hanging locker, shelves and cabinets, and a 13-inch LCD television.
The boat’s 36-foot, 5-inch LOA doesn’t include the standard bow pulpit or optional swim platform. The molded-in fiberglass pulpit has a stainless steel roller system, and a one-piece welded stainless steel bow rail extends from the pulpit to the bridge deck. The standard anchor windlass system can be operated by foot pedal on the foredeck or remotely from the helm.
The hull, which Tiara says carries a five-year limited warranty, is built of hand-laid fiberglass with wood/composite stringers. Tiara finishes it with a black gelcoat boot stripe with a gold accent, and a stainless steel rubrail. A custom color boot stripe and black anti-fouling paint are available as options.
Standard power for the 3600 Open comes from a pair of 385-hp Crusader gas inboards. This setup has a 2005 base price of $237,800, while a boat outfitted with a pair of 310-hp Volvo Penta D6 diesels has a base price of $283,500. Walsh says twin 370-hp diesels also are available.
The trend among Tiara customers is to go for the diesel option, provided they have regular access to diesel fuel, he says. “The only people that are staying with the gas engines are those that are restricted to gas fuel,” says Walsh.
