Old-school diving off Long Island

A 1940s-style diving suit - the kind with the big, round, bronze helmet, also known as "hardhats" - was the gear of choice for one man diving a wreck off New York Harbor.

The dive was an idea born out of the Historical Diving Association, a group that holds weekend rallies so recreational divers can try out old Navy hardhat gear and other restored equipment, according to an article at APP.com.
