One-of-a-kind boat arrives for the Olympics

A 30-foot sailboat built from 1,200 pieces of donated wood — clothes pins, tennis rackets and more — has arrived in landlocked Milton Keynes, England.

The boat is one of 12 public art commissions for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Named Collective Spirit and was built at Thornham Marina in Hampshire, where collected objects were used to make a seaworthy vessel.

Artists Gregg Whelan and Gary Winters from the Boat Project visited 20 locations around the United Kingdom last year to collect items.
