Overboard eight hours, angler fights for life

One man is missing, presumed drowned, while his friend survived eight hours in the ocean after a fishing trip went wrong.

Australian authorities suspended the search for a 38-year-old, who accompanied his 45-year-old friend on a 25-foot aluminium catamaran intending to "test a couple of engines" and do a "little fishing,” police told local news sources. Report did not specify whether the vessel was a power or sailboat.

The survivor later told police the boat had gone down about three miles offshore and that he survived by swimming to shore.
