Palm Beach Announces New GT RS Series

Palm Beach Motor Yachts isn’t a builder that tends to shy away from a thrill ride and its new GT RS series should thrill any boater. The line will include a flagship, the 79-foot Palm Beach GT70 RS, and the 68-foot GT60 RS and 56-foot GT50 RS.

“We will never compromise on performance and a superior ride,” Palm Beach founder, CEO and lead designer Mark Richards says. “With every boat we build, we prove that both of these attributes can co-exist easily when the design and build process are flawless. That’s what excites me every day.”

The hulls will use Palm Beach’s unique V-Warp technology, which besides lightweight construction, according to the builder also includes “a fine entry, a graceful curvature amidships and minimal deadrise at the transom.”

Each GT model features a galley-down layout to port, leaving each yacht’s main deck for hosting friends and family. In the 60 and 50, the galley’s countertops are L-shaped and on the 70, the galley has a C-shaped countertop.

The GT series yachts include a two-seat helm station to starboard with portside companion seating and cockpits highlighted by forward-facing, L-shaped settees.

The 70’s full-beam, amidships master has a forward-facing, king-sized berth on centerline and a sofa to starboard. Forward and to starboard is the head with a countertop that runs the length of the head. In the 60, the master stateroom is to starboard, with its head forward, and the 50’s lone stateroom is in the forepeak, with its head aft and to starboard.

The GT70 RS can be outfitted with triple Volvo Penta 1,000-hp IPS 1350s, while the GT60 RS will be powered by quad V12 600-hp Mercury outboards and the first GT50 RS will sport quad V8 500-hp Mercury Racing outboards.

Performance numbers were not available at press time, but the first GT 50 RS has been sold to an owner who wants to make his commute between his Connecticut and New York City offices “a lot more fun.” Two-thousand ponies worth of fun.
