Pleasure boaters to test docking skills

The inaugural Power Boat Docking Challenge will be held at Mears Point Marina in Kent Island, Md., Aug. 7.

The event provides recreational powerboat owners the chance to demonstrate their boat handling abilities, with prizes awarded to the top finishers. Boats will compete within a classification based on size and drive type. The docking maneuver will be timed on a typical marina dock except with instrumented pilings that penalize for contact and reward for skill and control.

“As a boater, I know how much pride we take in putting the boat on the dock on the first try without incident. This event provides a great opportunity for recreational boaters to showcase their skills in a fun, safe, competitive environment.” says Rob Comstock, co-founder of Customer One Financial, which is sponsoring the event.
