Recreational boat collision kills angler

A 30-year-old man whose 19-foot Boston Whaler fishing boat was struck Wednesday by a 46-foot Sea Ray yacht in San Francisco Bay died after being trapped underneath his capsized vessel while his father clung to the hull, the Coast Guard said.

"Based on the size of the two boats, they didn't see the smaller boat," said Brisbane police Sgt. Mario Garcia, who added that the larger boat stayed on scene and called authorities immediately. "Our preliminary investigation leads us to believe it was a pure accident on the waterways."
