Renovated Coast Guard museum set to reopen
The U.S. Coast Guard Museum in New London, Conn., will soon reopen with a new look and rare artifacts that will be on display for the first time.
Housed at the Coast Guard Academy, the museum has been closed for nearly a year while asbestos was removed from the ceiling and the 4,000-square-foot space was reconfigured.
The Coast Guard has yet to settle on a site for a much larger national museum to replace the renovated museum at the academy, but has agreed to work with the city to find a location within city limits.
