Report: Competitors raced passed distressed yacht

A US Sailing report on a fatal yacht crash during a race off the San Francisco coast says it was "troubling" that other competitors did not stop to help the ailing yacht.

The report concluded, however, that little could have been done to save the five crew members who drowned after the yacht, the Low Speed Chase, was hit by a massive wave April 14 and capsized near California’s Farallon Islands.

The report said investigators "found it troubling that no boats appear to have dropped out or delayed their race in order to render assistance, which is a basic tenet of the sea."
