Report documents injury during rescue

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau issued a report stating that it investigated an accident that occurred Nov. 9, 2009 during a medical evacuation of an ill crewmember from a ship located about 82 miles west of Horn Island, Queensland, Australia.

A rescue crew officer and a paramedic were being winched down to the forecastle, when the helicopter's winch cable became entangled in the mast on the forecastle. The cable separated and the two individuals suffered severe injuries when they fell more than 30 feet to the deck.
