Reporter wins Pulitzer for boat-sinking story
A New Jersey reporter was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in feature writing Monday for "The Wreck of The Lady Mary," an investigation into the mysterious sinking in 2009 of a commercial fishing boat off the coast of Cape May.
Amy Ellis Nutt's story, which the Pulitzer board called "deeply probing," was published in a 20-page special section in November. The reporter at The Star-Ledger spent more than seven months on the investigation.
The story of the sinking also was published in the September 2009 issue of Soundings, Trade Only's sister magazine.
