Three Massachusetts anglers were saved at sea when their 20-foot vessel went down Tuesday off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard. But they came out of the water with video camera still rolling and handheld VHF that might have saved their lives.
With time to only grab life jackets and a video camera, John Majewski and his two friends found themselves floating in the waters off Martha’s Vineyard, stranded after their fishing boat sunk in less than 30 seconds.
“The boat started sinking faster than I could have ever imagined,” said Majewski. “There was no time to think — the objective was clear — get in the water and start swimming as fast as we could to avoid getting pulled down with the sinking ship.
