Restoring an old skipjack

Two Chesapeake Bay area men have been spending the last four years making sure a bit of family legacy is preserved for future generations.

Elbert Gladden Jr., 75, and his brother, Gordon, 70, have been laboring away each Saturday to repair and restore an unusual family heirloom - the skipjack Ida May.

"Our late father, Elbert Gladden Sr., owned 12 skipjacks in his lifetime," Gordon told a local newspaper. "This was the last one and we feel an obligation to the family to keep it going."
