Robert Redford plays a sailor in distress

Boaters have a rare treat this weekend with a new motion picture set entirely on a sailboat opening — and it stars Robert Redford.

All Is Lost” is described by reviewers as a harrowing man-at-sea ad¬ven¬ture the Hollywood legend playing a solo sailor in a virtually wordless performance centered around his determination to survive the inevitable sinking of his boat far offshore.

“Swinging his way through the scuttled boat, hoisting himself up to make repairs, squinting into the sun as he devises shrewd ways to find fresh drinking water, Redford never lets one false or vain moment slip through,” reads a review of Redford’s performance by the Washington Post — one of the near universally positive reviews of the movie.
