MARCH 2 — Sailing fans that were not able to attend US Sailing’s 2005 Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year ceremony late last month in New York City can watch the event on the Internet.
T2p.tv , which broadcasts live coverage of sailing-related events, recently announced that it would make available the 2005 awards ceremony. Once logged onto the Web site, click on the 2005 Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year link. You will be able to view the ceremony for free after a quick registration process, or over a broadband connection for a subscription fee, according to a press release.
US Sailing announced in January that Sally Barkow, of Nashotah, Wis.; and Nick Scandone, of Fountain Valley, Calif., were respectively named the 2005 Rolex Yachtswoman and Yachtsman of the Year. The awards were presented at a Feb. 24 luncheon at the New York Yacht Club.
Scandone, who is 39, was recognized in part for his win of the 2.4 Metre World Championship held in Italy last September, in which he beat seven world champions, as well as three Paralympic medalists who were among 34 disabled competitors. Barkow, who is 25, was recognized in part for her string of wins at a number of noteworthy international sailing events last year.
T2p.tv broadcasts sailing events, such as major regattas, instructional video and other sailing video footage.
