Round-the-world record bid now in sight

The fabled Jules Verne Trophy, given to the fastest sailors to circle the globe, is currently held by Bruno Peyron, who sailed with crew aboard Orange 2 in 2005 with a time of 50 days 16 hours 20 minutes at an average of 17.89 knots.

On the 44th day at sea, Groupama 3, led by skipper Franck Cammas, has made up a deficit on Orange 2 and is now ahead of the reference time.
