Powerboaters interested in learning how to sail should consider attending the sixth annual American Sailing Week 2010, featuring a series of classes and activities, Sept. 10-17 in Clearwater Beach, Fla.
The daily schedule includes sails on a range of vessels from dinghies to keelboats, fun races and land-based classes such as knot-tying and navigation. Other events include welcome and farewell parties, a cruise to a nearby island beach bash, and pirate-themed costume party, barbecue and special goodie bags.
Admission for the week is $1,195 for ASA members, and non-members that are local to the area can enjoy a two-day sampler package for $199. The yearly membership fee is $39.
The American Sailing Association, the leader in U.S. sailing instruction, and the Tampa Bay-area ASA schools are organizing the event.
