Celebrating 42 years of continuous instruction and 16 years with annual programs solely for women, OffshoreSailingSchool is bringing its popular You Can Sail Escape for women back to Captiva Island, Fla.

Author of “SAILING: A Women’s Guide,” (Ragged Mountain Press/International Marine, 1999) Doris Colgate, CEO of Offshore Sailing School and founder of the National Women’s Sailing Association, has experienced the best of sailing, but in a mostly male atmosphere. This prompted her to find ways for women to learn and become really good sailors in their own rights. The OffshoreSailingSchool attracts women of all sailing skill levels including beginners.

The 2006 Escape will take place May 7-13 at the all-new South Seas Island Resort on CaptivaIsland. “Learn to Sail” and “Performance Sailing” on Colgate 26s and “Bareboat Cruising Preparation” on a Hunter 36 are the sailing courses offered during this intense yet fun-filled weekend of instruction. A “Power Cruise” course taught on a Luhrs Mainship 30-II Rumrunner will also be available. All courses come with US Sailing certification.

July 2-9 Offshore’s Women-Only Live Aboard Cruising Escape in the British Virgin Islands provides cruising training for women who have already gained Basic Keelboat Certification. The learning experience takes place aboard 43- to 49-foot Moorings yachts, maneuvering through the channels and harbors of this sailors’ paradise.

The You Can Sail Escape package at South Seas Island Resort starts at $1,795 per person.

The Women-Only Live Aboard Cruising Escape in the British Virgin Islands starts at $2,350 per person.
