Sailor is one week overdue on Hawaiian voyage

The Coast Guard is searching for a recreational boater aboard the 36-foot sailboat Arcturus who departed Kauai on Dec. 17 and was expected to arrive the next day on Oahu, but has not been heard from.

An HC-130 Hercules airplane search crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point was launched at 7 a.m. Sunday to search for the missing mariner.

The sailboat Arcturus is described as having a white hull, white sails, no name on the transom and four portholes on both sides of the cabin.
