Sailor to attempt record run around Australia

The man who helped Australian teen sailor Jessica Watson complete a solo circumnavigation is planning a conquest of his own.

Fellow Aussie sailor and boatbuilder Bruce Arms, 50, is hoping to complete the fastest circumnavigation of Australia later this year. He wants to become the first person to whip around Australia in 35 days, alone, unaided and without stopping, aboard a multihull.

"I have to stay awake and remain very alert when passing through areas with a high concentration of reefs. On a fast multihull, they can approach very quickly so navigation has to be precise," Arms told the Australian press.
