Efforts to salvage an American sailracing yacht that capsized Monday off the coast of Ireland’s County Cork while participating in the Fastnet yacht race were expected to begin Tuesday afternoon.

Twenty-one people on board the U.S.-registered Rambler 100 were rescued when the yacht capsized in foggy but not very rough conditions.

Investigators believe a mechanical failure caused the yacht to lose its keel.
