Scuba divers left behind in open waters

Two divers off Florida’s Key Biscayne surfaced Sunday amid strong currents, buildings seas and night approaching — only to find their dive boat had deserted them.

“We were in shock,” Paul Kline, 44, of Austin, Texas, told the Miami Herald.

Kline, a certified deep-sea diver, and Fernando García Puerta, a tourist from Spain, held on to a small fishing buoy for more than two hours until they were spotted from a passing boat and the skipper stopped to rescue them.
