MIAMI BEACH — Sea Ray introduced seven new boats for model-year 2013, including the 370 Venture, which won the NMMA Innovation Award in the power category Thursday at the Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show and Strictly Sail, as well as Boating magazine's Boat of the Year Award.
The brand is bringing what it calls Next Wave initiative across all platforms, a "commitment to redefine the boating experience through every platform," Brunswick Boat Group president Andy Graves said at a press event during the Miami International Boat Show.
"We are applying our best new technology in clever new ways," Graves said.
Vice president of product development Ron Berman told Trade Only the focus on new and innovative products will be the "new normal" at Sea Ray.
Despite some changes at Sea Ray, dealers should feel confident that parent company Brunswick Corp. is not pulling out of the marine segment. “No way,” Graves said. “We’ve got a winning hand. Why not play it?"
Brunswick CEO Dustan McCoy told the crowd that the marine group accounts for 75 percent of the company's overall business. It is contributing 20 percent of sales to research and development, with "more [being devoted] to this brand than any other," McCoy said.
"I think we can all acknowledge we are in a market recovery and Sea Ray is ideally positioned to capitalize," Graves said.
